Biography
Rik Wullaert (born in Berchem, Belgium, 1965) is a versatile, self-taught artist whose imagination truly blossomed after he moved to Kalmthout. His creative foundation was laid during his technical training in maintenance engineering; there, he learned precise technical drawing and gained his first experience working with clay—an influence still visible today in the layered structure of his paintings. From the age of sixteen, Rik combined his creativity with his passion for music by designing logos and stage props for his own bands. He subsequently refined his artistic skills through extensive self-study and various workshops in ceramics, photo editing, and comic book illustration, creating a unique fantasy world in the process. His work is strongly influenced by the surreal biomechanics of H.R. Giger and the imaginative worlds of Rodney Matthews and Jef Bertels.

Rik Wullaert Ik ben geboren in (Berchem, Belgie, 1965) ik om een veelzijdige, autodidactische kunstenaar wiens verbeelding pas echt tot bloei kwam na zijn verhuizing naar Kalmthout. Zijn creatieve basis werd gelegd tijdens zijn technische opleiding 'onderhoudstechnieken'. Hier leerde hij nauwkeurig technisch tekenen en maakte hij voor het eerst kennis met kleiervaringen die vandaag de dag nog steeds zichtbaar zijn door de opbouw van lagen in zijn schilderijen. Vanaf zijn zestiende verbond Rik zijn creativiteit aan zijn passie voor muziek door logo's en podiumrekwisieten te ontwerpen voor zijn eigen bands. Zijn artistieke vaardigheden verfijnde hij daarna door uitgebreide zelfstudie en diverse workshops in keramiek, fotobewerking en het tekenen van comics. Zo creëert Hij een unieke fantasiewereld. Zijn werken zijn sterk beïnvloed door de surrealistische biomechanica van H.R. Giger en de fantasierijke werelden van Rodney Matthews en Jef Bertels.
